Sweetnam & Bradley's commitment to front end client relationships are critical to our commercial success. We have learnt through experience, that sitting down with customers at the beginning of a project and producing prototypes/engineering drawings is essential in realising a robust manufacturing solution.
It's during this development stage that Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd can make suggestions to drive down cost and increase material optimisation for the client. It is also at this stage that the client can consider compromises, which can only be understood by walking through the manufacturing routes available.
Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd has invested significantly in this important area over the past few years and uses the latest 3D Radan programming software. We also have skilled CorelDraw draughtsmen who can help to produce artworks and artist impressions of finished products.
Significant contracts have been won through S&B's commitment to Product Development.
Sweetnam & Bradley are at the forefront with cutting edge technology, acquiring the Amada Ensis 3 KW fibre laser system in 2023.
The state-of-the-art system has considerably increased our production capacity together with variable beam control technology allowing high speed piercing, faster cutting rates and vastly improved bevel angles on thicker materials.
Utilisation of a single lens and automatic nozzle changer further enhances productivity and therefore higher profitability.
The MP Flexit automation module provides continuous, automatic loading and unloading capability increasing machine utilisation offering 24hr unmanned throughput.
The Ensis fibre laser system significantly reduces the power consumption for laser material processing.
Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd continue to offer a complete ‘one stop shop’ for metal work fabrications and finishes.
We can laser cut stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass, titanium, thin gauge mild steels, and other exotic metals.
CNC Punching remains at the very heart of the Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd sub-contract solution.
We have a strong relationship with Amada (UK) Ltd spanning more than 30 years. We currently have one Amada CNC Punching machine, which links directly to the CAD/CAM suite. We believe quality comes from both CNC operator and CNC machinery and it is for this reason that all our CNC punching and CNC bending machinery is purchased from Amada.
We have a longstanding relationship with Amada, having service and support agreements in place, ensuring minimal down time on our CNC punch machine.
We have a strong relationship with Amada (UK) Ltd spanning more than 30 years.
To further expand our 'Complete Manufacturing solution' we have recently commissioned 2 x CNC milling machines and built a dedicated CNC milling section (segregated from the shop floor).
The latest machine to be added to the section is a Haas VF-4 which we purchased new. All our machines within this section have full service contracts.
The Haas VF-4 machine is linked directly to the latest OneCNC programming suite.
We can machine within a 1270 x 508 x 635 mm working envelope.
All our CNC Press brakes are Amada.
They range in length from 1M up to the very latest 3M HFE 1003 3i 7 Axis machine. S&B recognise the need for our highly skilled operators to use the latest and highest quality machinery available.
It is for this reason that our relationship with Amada has been in place for over 30 years.
S&B operate the latest multi axis down stroking Amada press brakes.
Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd offer spot welding, stud welding, MIG/TIG welding, soldering and brazing as standard production processes.
We hold a range of spot welding machinery from 6 K.V.A to 100 K.V.A. Our in-house welding section offers both MIG and TIG welding as standard, with full-time welders in place to provide both one-off and production batch welding.
In order to increase production and cost efficiency, we maintain continual contact with local and national welding suppliers/manufacturers.
In 2017, we are very proud to have achieved our Welding Competency Accreditation to BS4872-1:1982.
A comprehensive In-House Welding section for MIG/TIG/Soldering and Brazing.
Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd recognise the importance of offering a 'complete' manufacturing solution.
In order to fulfil this commitment, we have continually invested in skills and processes within the finishing department. These include Powder Coating, Wet Spray, Automated Screen Printing and more recently Pad Printing.
S&B stock over 155 solvent based paints & 260 polyester powder paints.
We have recently installed two new 2m square RDM Box Ovens in the powder coating area as well as having purchased two new Air flow Powder coating booths. Our highly skilled full-time paint sprayers ensure that components are prepared and painted to a quality normally expected from a bespoke component rather than a production batch.
A third new RDM Box Oven is located in our Wet spray area. Like our powder coat area, the wet spray area is enclosed and sectioned off from the rest off the factory to avoid contamination, this is well ventilated and filtered to preserve the environment. Our sprayers have 65 years of combined experience.
Over the years we have developed our printing department and perfected the art of screen printing onto customers parts. With our newly purchased Automated Screen-printing machine, we are now able to increase capacity, provide consistent quality and an even more professional finish.
We have now further expanded and improved our printing offerings, by introducing pad printing. With our new pad printing equipment, we are able to print high volumes of parts in two colours. This enables us to speedup the process, saving our customers time and setup costs. Pad Printing can also be used to print complex components.
Assembled sheet metal solutions are what most customers now expect.
Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd are highly skilled in this area and aren't restricted by method or material. We have experience in assembling products as diverse as security box racks, complete with wiring looms to complex assemblies for defence and transport clients.
We believe that through continual customer contact, we are able to offer tailored assemblies that can often exceed customer expectation.
Many assemblies produced by S&B feature over 40 individual manufacturing processes.
We have held BS5750 Part 2 followed by subsequent EN ISO 9001 certification for over 20 years, proving our commitment to providing the highest quality service possible. In November 2017, we achieved the latest ISO 9001:2015 accreditation.
Our approval testifies to the comprehensive nature of our quality management system. However, the true measure of the quality of our work is given by the many national and international companies who have been ordering from us on a regular basis for the past fifty years.
Our own trained internal auditors ensure that every area of our quality system is assessed. Our comprehensive schedule of regular auditing ensures that we continually maximise business efficiency and product quality.
Over the last 20 years of quality accreditation, Sweetnam & Bradley Ltd has built a complete infrastructure of quality awareness. Every employee understands the need to maintain and develop our internal quality systems.
With over 3500 invoice lines raised in a year, a robust quality system is essential.
